Tracking Gift Certificates
Although you may have your own system of tracking gift certificates, your Administration Panel provides the tools to help you track them electronically if you so wish. This will be most usefull in situations where you have an internet connected computer at point of sale.
The tool provided for tracking is called the G.C. Manager and this link appears at the top of your left hand navigation in the Administration Panel. This screen is designed to help you quickly verify a gift certificate and confirm the current available balance.
Clicking on the 'gcert' number in the 'Code' column will display the gift certificate as it is displayed to the customer.
You may also make status updates to the certificate from this screen by clicking the 'UPDATE' link to the far right. The G.C. Manager screen also displays information regarding the date of the certificate purchase, the desired package, the original amount of the certificate, the purchaser's name, the recipient's name, the method they received the certificate (instant/print, or mail: note that even if a certificate was shipped to the recipient they may also have a printout as this option is offered to the purchaser. The gcert number should match on both certificates and is the important verification code.)
It is vital when fulfilling a gift certificate purchase that if you are shipping a certificate to the recipient that the gift certificate number you print or write on the certificate is the code generated by your estore Administration Panel.
